The hypnotized person doesn't loose control. Hypnosis is just a state of relaxed focus. A hypnotized person always has control and can always hear and respond to what's going on in session. It is a natural state of relaxation that you may experience while waking up or while falling asleep. Clients who participate in hypnotherapy and are in a trance like state always have the ability to communicate with their therapist and express any concerns, feeling and requests they may have.
Hypnotherapy can be used to treat anxiety, phobias, substance abuse including vaping and tobacco, sexual dysfunction and dissatisfaction, undesirable impulsive behaviors and bad habits. It can be used to help with insomnia, self-esteem, confidence, and relationship issues.
Some people believe that hypnosis is dangerous and that you may not wake up or that a hypnotherapist may make you do things you don't want to do. This is untrue. You are always in control and always able to come "wake up" at any point if you wish or need to do so.
Hypnotherapy is not a stage show where a hypnotist make people do all these crazy things. Hypnosis can not make you do something you don't want to do or if it is against your morals.
Any and all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. That's why some people can be hypnotized to stop smoking and yet they still smoke. You have to want to quit smoking, agree to quit smoking, and only in that case hypnotherapy can be an additional technique to help you achieve the change.
